I heard that my school may offer a virtual commencement. What is the Herff Jones virtual commencement?

Herff Jones has partnered with StageClip and MarchingOrder to provide a one-of-a kind virtual ceremony for graduates. The virtual commencement provides all the elements of a traditional ceremony with guest speakers, personalized recognition of each graduate and much more. Friends and family can be invited to share in the virtual event and the graduate can share a memory of their academic achievement on their preferred social channels. I would like to find out more about offering a virtual commencement for my high school or college. How do I get started?

We understand the importance of celebrating achievement with the challenge of closed campuses. The Herff Jones virtual commencement will allow for students and their families and friends to share in the celebration remotely. To get started, a school administrator or leader can register online, and a Herff Jones sales representative will connect to start the process.

How is the virtual commencement personalized for each student?

StageClip and MarchingOrder, partners of Herff Jones, create a complete virtual commencement experience. Guest speakers and administrative staff share commencement comments and keynote speeches. In addition, students can share a 30 or 60 second personalized video and commencement photo. A sample of a student message is available here. A procession with individual student recognition is created for a personalized celebration from beginning to end.

My school is offering a virtual commencement ceremony and I want my family who live in different areas of the country to view the ceremony. Is that possible?

One of the benefits of virtual graduation is the flexibility to share it with family remotely. Why do I need to select Male or Female when using the app?

This selection provides the app a starting place based on the average size of male and female fingers. Accuracy is greater with a more precise starting point.

Why do I need to remove my jewelry?

Best results are generated when your hand is relaxed and the finger is laying flat with the base of your finger at bottom of the screen. Other jewelry can prevent your finger from laying flat.

Why do I need to close one eye when using the app?

The accuracy of RightSizeTM is dependent on you looking directly down at the device and having one eye closed. This is due to the precision required during the measurement process. Having one eye closed gives you a single point of focus looking down upon the device as the white lines are adjusted to the widest part of your finger. (*If a user receives a size that is a few sizes too small, more often than not, it is because both their eyes were open when calculating the finger size.)

When I press the + or – buttons (iOS) or volume buttons (Android), nothing is happening. What can I do?

Make sure that there are no other fingers or parts of your hand touching your device’s screen. The finger being sized should be the only thing touching the screen while pressing the + and – buttons. Relaxing the hand being measured also helps remove unwanted pressure from nonessential areas on the screen. If the problem persists, please close and reopen the app.

When I press FINISHED nothing is happening. What can I do?

Once you are finished lining up the white lines you must lift your finger off the screen before pressing the “Finished” button.

How can I access the instructional video for a second time?

Return to the beginning of the app. Or, press the “?” on the app screen. You will be redirected to the Herff Jones help page. The instructional video is located on the help page.

Why should I measure my finger multiple times?

RightSize’s accuracy is driven by the user. The more comfortable you become with the precision of aligning the white lines to the widest part of your finger, the more accurate the result. Testing shows that accuracy is greatly improved once you complete 3-4 measurement cycles.

My knuckles are the widest part of my finger?

The ring will need to be large enough to pass by your knuckle, therefore the white lines should be adjusted to your knuckle. The white lines need to be adjusted to the widest part of the finger. On many people, the knuckle is the widest portion of their finger.

My finger is not straight, how/where should I measure?

In order for the ring to fit, you must determine the widest part of your finger. The ring must be large enough to pass by this widest point. Once you have determined the widest part of your finger, align the inside of the white lines with this widest point.

Why am I getting a wide range of results?

Results become more consistent the more comfortable you become with correctly adjusting the inside of the white line with the widest part of your finger. We suggest repeating the process 3-4 times to improve your accuracy with the positioning of the white lines. The size of your finger can vary from day to day. If comparing measurement from day to day, you may experience some of this variability. Chose a size that best represents your size under normal conditions.

What is the difference between a Keeper and Rental gown and what is your return policy on each?

Keeper – A Keeper gown is designed for the graduate to wear for the ceremony and to keep as a souvenir afterwards. Typically, these items are not returned. In some circumstances, your gown, hood and cap (all unused) may be returned for credit (less shipping costs). Your package must be postmarked prior to your ceremony date. Rental – A Rental gown is designed to be worn at the ceremony and then returned immediately following the ceremony. Rental gowns are returned to the manufacturing facility to be cleaned and reused for the next graduating class. Due to any unforeseen circumstance, if you have a need to return your rental gown before the ceremony – your gown, hood and cap (all unused) may be returned for credit. Your package must be postmarked prior to your ceremony date. How do I care for my cap and gown?

Upon receiving your cap and gown, immediately take it out of the bag and hang it on a hanger. You may need to use an iron with light steam on the gowns to remove any wrinkles that may have occurred. There is no need to wash the gown as your gown is delivered properly cleaned.

When will my cap and gown be delivered?

Most caps and gowns are delivered by your rep at your school. Please contact your local reps to see when he will be on your school’s campus.

What side do I wear my tassel on for graduation?

According to tradition, the tassel is worn on the right side and moved to the left once the graduates receive their diplomas. It is customary for all graduates to move their tassels all together after all graduates have received their diplomas.

My cap and/or gown doesn’t fit. What do I need to do in order to get another size?

Online orders shipped to home address – A new order must be placed with the correct gown and/or cap size. The original order with all items (unused) must be postmarked for return prior to your ceremony date with a written request for a refund. How do I place my order?

What is the best way to care for my class ring?

The best way to care for your class ring is to polish it with a good silver cleaner or washed with a mild soap. Finish by buffing with a soft cloth. Follow this link click here.

What is your cancellation policy?

You, the buyer, may cancel the transaction at any time prior to midnight of the third business day (72 hours) after the date of this transaction. The minimum deposit is subject to forfeiture. All college ring orders that are cancelled more than 3 days (72 hours) after initial order placement will be subject to a $100.00 cancellation fee. Payment plan orders will be assessed for an additional $40 processing fee.

What kind of metal are class rings made of?

Most class rings are made of 10K and 14K Yellow Gold or White Gold. In addition, some styles offer 18K Yellow or White Gold, Ultrium (a fine jeweler’s stainless alloy) and Extreme Silver. How do I locate the sales representative for my school?

You can locate the sales representative for your school by visiting our Herff Jones Sales Representative Locator. Once there, input the state, city, school name and product. This will give you the name of your Sales Representative, as well as their contact information.

What if I need to return my ring for a refund?

Typically, customized jewelry cannot be returned for a refund because it’s made just for you. If you’re not satisfied with the jewelry’s quality, your ring may be covered by the limited lifetime warranty.  For any other questions, please call customer service at 1.800.837.4235, during Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm EST.

How long will it take to repair my class ring?

What is covered under the Herff Jones Ring Warranty?

Herff Jones fully warrants the ring and simulated gemstone to be free from defects in workmanship and/or material at the time of delivery. If your college ring cannot be repaired or replaced under these terms, a refund will be allowed. In addition, the following services will be performed at NO CHARGE: resizing; replacement of broken or defective simulated stones; restore the original finish of ring; change of grad year date while still in school; clean and polish. The price of the yearbook is determined by many things including, but not limited to, materials selected, number of pages and book size. The price of the yearbook is determined by your school. Both pricing and options are subject to change. Order early for best pricing and options.

The Herff Jones Yearbook Order Center has processed your order on behalf of your school. Once completed, the yearbook and/or yearbook accessories ordered will be delivered to your school, and your school is responsible for fulfilling your order.

Why did my announcement come with two envelopes?

Can I order the paper stock and design then print my own announcements?

Since Herff Jones is your official school provider, your school’s crest or logo has been custom-designed and printed exclusively for your school on your announcements. Custom announcements cannot be replicated or purchased from anyone else.

No, licensing requirements do not allow us to sell the mats or medallions separately.

How long will it take to receive my frame order?

All frames are handcrafted. Standard Orders are shipped within 2-4 weeks from receipt of order. Frame Creator and Special Orders require up to 4-6 weeks from receipt of order.

How do I care for my cap and gown?

Upon receiving your cap and gown, immediately take it out of the bag and hang it on a hanger. You may need to use an iron with light steam on the gowns to remove any wrinkles that may have occurred. There is no need to wash the gown as your gown is delivered properly cleaned.

When will my cap and gown be delivered?

Most caps and gowns are delivered by your rep at your school. Please contact your local reps to see when he will be on your school’s campus.

What side do I wear my tassel on for graduation?

According to tradition, the tassel is worn on the right side and moved to the left once the graduates receive their diplomas. It is customary for all graduates to move their tassels all together after all graduates have received their diplomas.

My cap and/or gown doesn’t fit. What do I need to do in order to get another size?

Online orders shipped to home address – A new order must be placed with the correct gown and/or cap size. The original order with all items (unused) must be postmarked for return prior to your ceremony date with a written request for a refund. What is the difference between a graduation stole and the Stole of Gratitude?

Graduation stoles and the Stole of Gratitude recognize different organizations, honors, and achievements. Graduation stoles are a very common addition to the traditional cap and gown ensemble worn for high school and college graduations. Graduation stoles symbolize the accomplishments of the graduate in fraternities and/or sororities, majors, graduation years, academic honors, and other achievements. In contrast, the Stole of Gratitude offers the opportunity to say “Thank you for helping me make it.” The stole is worn during the commencement ceremony or at another occasion where a presentation is appropriate. After the ceremony, the new graduate presents the stole to someone who provided extraordinary help or support, like a parent, relative or mentor.

Can I have my cap and gown delivered to my home?

For Home Ship orders, please allow 2-3 weeks for manufacturing. Once your order ships, a shipment confirmation email including the tracking number will be sent to the email address provided.

What is your cancellation policy?

You, the buyer, may cancel the transaction at any time prior to midnight of the third business day (72 hours) after the date of this transaction. The minimum deposit is subject to forfeiture. All college ring orders that are cancelled more than 3 days (72 hours) after initial order placement will be subject to a $100.00 cancellation fee. Payment plan orders will be assessed for an additional $40 processing fee.

What kind of metal are class rings made of?

Most class rings are made of 10K and 14K Yellow Gold or White Gold. In addition, some styles offer 18K Yellow or White Gold, Ultrium (a fine jeweler’s stainless alloy) and Extreme Silver. Typically, customized jewelry cannot be returned for a refund because it’s made just for you. Herff Jones fully warrants the ring and simulated gemstone to be free from defects in workmanship and/or material at the time of delivery. Each school is managing their activities according to their local and state regulations. This has resulted in each school is organizing the year-end activities differently. As a college student, I need help receiving my cap and gown and other commencement regalia. What should I do?

We understand the disappointment that many students may be facing after working so hard on their academic achievements and learning that traditional graduation ceremonies may be canceled or rescheduled. Many students will choose to keep their graduation regalia and/or keepsakes as a memory of their accomplishments or to be worn as part of their celebrations. Most colleges are working through details and updating students directly. We are partnering with many colleges on a solution to get cap and gowns shipped to a student’s home.

There has been a delay in receiving my cap and gown or requested refund, why?

Several of our Herff Jones facilities are operating as expected. We are working with local and state regulations during the Covid-19 Crisis. However, since our facilities are located throughout the U.S., we may see some slight delays. For example, our cap and gown facilities are in Illinois and according to the governor the facility should reopen mid-April. We are focusing on shipping our orders out to schools, students and sales representatives.
