Things to Include on a Senior Yearbook Ad

  • A personal message
    • Take some time to pen a personal, sentimental message for your graduate. Tell them how proud you are and why. You could even include memories, inside jokes and nicknames.
  • Photos
    • Include baby photos, photos with siblings, pets, grandparents and friends. Throw in some cute and funny photos (ones that may slightly embarrass but that you cherish so much!)
  • The Year
    • Some senior ads include the year they are graduating, i.e. “Senior 2016”
  • Meaningful quotes/Verses
    • Many times, a quote close to a senior’s heart and/or representative of who they are will be included on the ad. Some parents choose to include meaningful Bible verses, as well.

Keep in mind, this is a tribute ad to your student that many other parents and students will see. Make it a tasteful page to celebrate them by excluding any type of profanity, nudity, alcohol, drugs, etc. — or any reference to these things.

Protect the Memories

Protect the MemoriesA lot went into creating your yearbook — taking pictures, writing copy, designing pages — you get the idea. Once they’ve been printed and bound, taking care of the book so the memories will truly last for many lifetimes — imagine passing it down to your children and grandchildren so they can laugh at the funny styles and see you in your prime — is just as important.

Several things will help preserve the book

  • Store the book on a shelf where it can be referenced by family instead of in a humid basement or attic.
  • Dust covers are an excellent way to keep a beautiful yearbook, beautiful. They protect the cover from stains, spillage or scratches, and be purchased with your yearbook.
  • Personalization is a smart option for any yearbook buyer. There are hundreds of yearbooks circulating through the school after distribution day — make sure your student’s doesn’t get lost in the mix by opting to personalize their cover. Contact your school’s yearbook adviser to see if they offer this option.

A Yearbook is a Necessity

A Yearbook is a Necessity

Imagine something that houses images of all of the events and people who made your years in school special and you’ll get a sense of the importance of owning a yearbook. It captures memories frozen in time, events that happened, faces that change inevitably and memories that may only be remembered again by opening the cover. You can’t see the same things while scrolling through social media, and that is why a yearbook is actually a necessity. They will never go out of style and will always be a treat when came across, no matter how old their users grow. They will always serve their same purpose that can never be quite replicated anyplace else.

It may seem that your parents get just as excited about the yearbook as you do — sometimes more. They enjoy seeing how your childhood friends have changed. They want to remember your school years, too and they probably have a good understanding of how a yearbook possesses inherent value. The first look at a yearbook is fun and exciting, often marking the end of a school year and a summer of freedom. But the moment a yearbook is opened years later, a flood of all types of memories will resurface. You may not realize now how remarkably valuable a yearbook is and will be in the future, but trust this — having one from each year of high school will not be something you regret.

What to Wear on School Picture Day

hj_resource_hj_school_picture_day

Getting the best school pictures is easy once you know the tricks of the trade.

Seeing the changes that take place over 12-13 years of school is fun for parents most immediately and becomes fun for the actual subjects much later. When the windowed envelopes are distributed by the homeroom teachers, it’s often a time of either sharing or frantically trying to hide them as fast as possible. Either way, they are a reality for anyone who attends school.

Getting the best looking pictures is important to all parties involved and is easily achievable if you know the tricks of the trade. Choosing a shirt color that flatters your skin tone should be on the top of your list. Not sure what colors look best on you, check this out. Once you’ve determined whether you have cool or warm skin tones you’ll want to select a top that flatters your tone. Think solid and either bright or dark colors as they will show up best and provide the greatest contrast to skin tones on various background colors.

Whatever you decide to wear, it’s best to stay away from busy patterns like plaids and polka dots. No matter how cute the outfit might be, the pattern will distract from your facial features and that’s really what you and your mom want to see after all.

Custom Commencement Caps and Gowns

It’s that time of the year again. Time to watch your seniors walk across the stage. Time to see the excitement on their faces as they receive their diplomas. Time for congratulation hugs and good-bye tears. It’s a huge milestone in a child’s life and you want them to remember this moment forever.

The pride of this moment, the pride in their school, the pride as they move on to graduation. As you look around at the graduating class, you notice something is missing. All your students are in place, everyone is in a cap and gown…the cap and gown – it’s just a solid color gown. You may be asking yourself “Does a solid gown show pride and spirit at my graduation commencement?” Herff Jones offers a list of custom products that promote pride; Custom Gowns are at the top of that list.

Custom Gowns Stimulate Aspirations and Accomplishments
Herff Jones offers one-of-a-kind Custom Rentals gowns and second-to-none Custom Keeper gowns. Custom gowns are specifically designed with school pride in mind. Custom gowns increase School Spirit!

They perform better academically, are more socially and civically engaged, and are happier in general than their less-spirited peers. What’s more, the majority of principals (92%) feel that high school spirit is tied to high student achievement.

Why they are awesome!
As one principal explained “School spirit if the heartbeat of the school.” And 83% of Principals said their school drives school spirit by promoting Graduation Events and Custom Caps and Gowns.

Mark Your Mark on Graduation. Your students aren’t just graduating from high school; they are graduating fromyour high school. As one student put it, School Spirit means “being proud to represent our mascot; that we should not be afraid to stand out.”

Graduation Announcements: Why to Buy and How to Send

Why to Buy Custom Graduation Announcements

You’re graduating and you want to share the big news with a timeless, traditional announcement. Your school’s official announcement has been custom designed for you. Announcement designs include your schools’ seal, crest or an etching of your school to name a few. Take pride in yourself and your accomplishments by spreading the news with your schools’ official announcements.

When To Send Your Announcements

Mail your graduation announcements anytime between two weeks prior to graduation and two weeks following graduation.

Envelopes

You will find two types of envelopes for each one of your graduation announcements.

  • Outside Envelopes
This envelope is for mailing. It is slightly larger than the inside envelope and features an adhesive sealant on the flap so you can seal and secure contents.
  • Inside Envelopes
Your announcement is inserted into this envelope, which is slightly smaller than the outside envelope. The flap does not feature an adhesive sealant.

How to Address Envelopes

With your best hand writing, address the outside envelope with blue or black ink. The addressee’s name(s) should be written formally and abbreviations in the address should be avoided.

Write the name of the addressee and family on the front of the inside envelope; their names may be expressed informally. Place your graduation announcement into the inside envelope with the folded edge inserted first and the front of the announcement facing the flap.

If included in your order, apply the envelope seal on the flap of the inside envelope to secure it closed. Place the inside envelope into the outside envelope and seal the outside envelope flap.

“Loved the grad announcements! We had MANY favorable comments.” – Kelli, Class of 2018

Tissue Inserts

If your order contains tissue inserts, place the translucent paper on the inside of your announcement.

Thank You Notes

A brief, handwritten note should be sent to everyone who sends a gift, as promptly as possible.

“Loved the announcements and the name card. Great quality paper and printing!” – Karen, Senior Parent

One Frame, One Tree: Herff Jones Tree
Planting Program

For every diploma frame purchased, Herff Jones and Trees for the Future will plant one tree.

Trees for the Future is an organization that plants millions of trees across the globe, creating a greener planet and changing lives. Since 1989, they have planted more than 187 million trees worldwide and our diploma frame product line is a contributor of that good work. Framing Success, a Division of Herff Jones has been a long time sponsor of this organization, donating a tree to be planted for every frame sold. While this initiative does support our ongoing commitment to the environment, more importantly, it allows customers to feel a sense of pride in giving back to the environment while framing their achievement.

All tree planting work, conducted by Trees for the Future, benefits the local communities they serve. Trees provide these communities with food, fuel and building material. In Africa, they have helped plant trees in an incredible range of environments from coastal areas to mountains, restoring soil that had been unproductive for decades or even hundreds of years. They are working with local groups in Indonesia and the Philippines to restore tree cover to upland areas, so the land can absorb more water during storms and reduce the likelihood of flooding and mudslides. In Honduras, Trees for the Future planted more than a million trees in conjunction with one of our local partners.

Not only do the donated trees create a greener planet, they change lives. For example, in Ethiopia, poor farmers feed their goats leaves and bark from the trees grown through donations. In turn, the goats provide the farmers’ families with enough milk and cheese to improve their diet as well as to sell, so that they can clothe and educate their children.

Corporate responsibility is important to Herff Jones and Framing Success. It’s also increasingly important to consumers. In a survey by “Good Must Grow,” 60% of people said that buying goods from socially-responsible companies is important to them, which is part of why our partnership with Trees for the Future is so valuable.

For more information about the Trees for the Future mission, visit www.trees.org. To learn more about this partnership, contact your local sales partner or visit Framing Success.
