The Herff Jones Straight Up-Get Home Safely program is designed to help high school students and their parents have honest dialogue about automobile safety. The key to the program is the parent/student agreement that establishes guidelines for students to follow and spells out safe alternatives to driving when there is any circumstance that could be unsafe - from intoxication to drowsiness to being stranded.
Driving safety is a relevant issue for all of our schools and communities. National statistics show that beginning drivers are twice as likely to be in an accident as others. So it is a critical time to create awareness and instill good driving habits that will make our young drivers safer behind the wheel for the rest of their lives.
Straight Up is based on successful models used around the country that were developed with vital input from parents, students, insurance experts, and law enforcement officials.
